Best Free C++ Complier?

Hey I'm gonna be learning C++, and I'm wondering what is the best Free C++ Complier for Windows XP( ). It has to be totally safe and Must be free( not pirated..). Is MinGw good? Thanks!

yeah MinGW is good. if you use with DevCap or CodeBlocks. also theres Cwygin or Cywgin i dont remember how its spelt. but yeah those are all free. Codeblocks is for more than Dev. and also has templates for you to work from depending on what your making the coding for.

i use http://www.bloodshed.net/ also if you need a multy purpos dycompiler for anything look up torrents for IDA pro

It's gonna be awhile before you can make games let alone asking what IDE is best to use is a stupid question. There's several FREE IDE's to use just pick one and get started. Actions are louder than words, By you saying you're gonna start learning and actually learning is two different things.

Start there, It's gonna take months if not years till you can start even working on games.

so how goes your progress in learning and or creating you own game. Personally its too much work for me to make one unless im bored out of my mind. once made a simple old style game were you had to defeat the "demon lord" and pass through trials and tribulations level up ect ect. after it was all done i didnt have the want to play it tho XD

Simple game making is a pain in the ass. It's gonna be 2D for the most part until you get into graphics.

Just taking a few tuts and practicing making GFX in blender. I don't plan on making any games ATM for awhile.. Gonna take a lot of work so.. We'll see. But I like making GFX more so maybe I'll just make GFX for a living
